16.06.26 – Exhibition Opening (18.00) & Panel Discussion (19.00)
People flee war, persecution, poverty, and violence. After long and dangerous journeys, many arrive at the borders of Europe hoping to find safety, dignity, and a future. Yet for countless individuals, the journey suddenly stops there.
VOICES FROM THE BORDER is a series of fifteen short film portraits capturing the stories of people stranded at Europe’s external borders, alongside the voices of residents living in these border regions.
Filmed in Serbia, Mauritania, Tunisia, Morocco, Bosnia, and Turkey, the portraits were created by local filmmakers as well as former refugees returning to the routes, they once travelled themselves.
Without judgement or commentary, the films create space for human stories to be heard: stories of resilience and survival, but also of loss, uncertainty, and the realities people leave behind.
By shifting perspective, VOICES FROM THE BORDER encourages us to look at Europe’s borders not from within Europe, but viewed from the outside. VOICES FROM THE BORDER is a collaborative project by borderline-europe and Berlin Producers.
The project is funded by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation and Seebrücke.
The event takes place as part of Refugee Week Greece 2026.
