It’s several days now that the women in Iran are standing united, protesting, cutting their hair in public, building fires and burning their hijabs. Next to them, in demonstrations violently cracked down by the police, we see young men. The brutal murder of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, during her detainment by the morality police on the accusation that she was wearing her headscarf incorrectly, provoked a huge wave of popular outrage in the country that has reached the proportions of a social uprising.
Women come out of the dark, break their silence and demand the obvious: equality, freedom, a right to life.
We wholeheartedly stand in solidarity with Iranian women, who risk their lives to fight bravely against the oppression and violence of patriarchy, and against a theocratic regime.
Women are writing history and show us the way to freedom.
We always believe in emancipation, personal as well as collective.
