Golden Dawn girls

On the 20th of April the trial of Golden Dawn will enter its fourth year. On this occasion Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung-Office in Greece is supporting CineDoc for the screenings of the documentary ”Golden Dawn Girls” from the Norwegian film director Håvard Bustnes.

Bustnes managed to penetrate the inner core of Golden Dawn and to film three female Golden Dawn members while they were taking over the party’s 2015 pre-election campaign while the whole leadership was imprisoned.

The documentary screenings will be followed by discussions on the Golden Dawn trial and its proceedings.

Screenings (with Greek and English subtitles)

Wednsday, 18th of April, 19:30, French Institute in Athens

After the screening, a discussion will follow with ‘Golden Dawn’ experts Dimitris Psarras and Al Jazeera journalist Patrick Strickland, about the Golden Dawn trial and the rise of extreme right in Europe. The conversation will be broadcasted via Facebook Live.

 – Sunday, 22th of April, 17.00, Aavora Cinema in Athens

The event will begin with the screening of the documentary The Cleaners (Greece / 2012) by Konstantinos Georgoussis.

– 18:00 Discussion with the director, Golden Dawn prosecution lawyer Thanassis Kambagiannis, and the former General Director for Human Rights and Golden Dawn Watch member, Kostis Papaioannou.

– 18:30 Golden Dawn Girls screening

The events are in collaboration with Al Jazeera English, Witness – Al Jazeera, the Norwegian Institute at Athens, the French Institute of Greece, Golden Dawn Watch, the Athens International Film Festival, Vouliwatch and the anti-fascist movement Jail Golden Dawn.
