18th Conference of the International Association of Health Policy in Europe

European health policies in the era of capitalist crisis and restructuring

On Thursday, September 21, 2017, at 5:00 pm, the 18th Conference of the International Association of Health Policy in Europe, titled "European health policies in the era of capitalist crisis and restructuring", begins at the Old Philosophy Building of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung - Office in Greece supports the conference organized by the International Association of Health Policy in Europe in collaboration with Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Queen Mary University of London. From Friday, September 22, the conference will be transferred to the KEDEA building.

The International Association of Health Policy (IAHPE) is a scientific, political and cultural organization founded in 1977. It is an international network of academics, health workers and activists whose purpose is the promotion of scientific analysis of public health issues and the creation of a forum for discussion and comparison of health policies at international level. IAHPE, following its 41 years tradition, will focus on the contemporary developments in European health policies within the context of capitalist crisis and capitalist economic restructuring.

The conference will be covering the following themes:

  • International trade agreements and their impact on Europe’s environment and health
  • Privatization and marketization of healthcare services in Europe
  • Eurozone crisis and its impact on health and health policy reform
  • Refugee crisis and its health and social implications
  • Academic freedom under threat in Europe  
  • Social movements and health in Europe

There will be simultaneous translation.
